In the late 1980s three brothers harnessed the power of technology to make financial statement spreading and analysis better, faster and easier.
Our Roots
As the financial world was making the shift from pencils, 11” x 17” spreadsheets and lots and lots of erasers, the company that would write FISCAL was formed by brothers Bob and Barry Brinson and their brother-in-law Tom Bullock. This company would be pioneers in moving statement spreading from paper to personal computers.
Early Growth
With Bob and Tom’s broad business experience and Barry as the sole programmer, their passion, precision, and dedication created a powerful, easy-to-use product and successfully launched it into the marketplace. Within a decade, banks, corporations, government agencies, consulting firms, and universities across the USA used FISCAL for their financial analysis.
A New Millennium
In 2000, the next generation assumed leadership as Barry Brinson Jr. acquired majority ownership and FISCAL came under the direction of Vision Software Solutions. With more than twelve years of experience in every aspect of the business, from programming to sales, Barry was ideally prepared to move the company forward while maintaining commitment to the values that shaped our products and company culture.
Broader Horizons
Recognizing an opportunity to give customers a better, faster, and easier method for loan portfolio tracking, we acquired ExceptionComplete in 2008. This addition to our product offerings allowed us to provide a suite, termed FISCAL SPREADING & TRACKING. With sustained pressure in financial markets and increasing regulatory scrutiny, banks and credit unions trusted our products to help them meet the challenges during a time when compliance and profitability were more important than ever.
Looking To the Future
In 2014, the third generation joined the company. Mike Brinson spent several years in banking and commercial lending prior to coming to work for the company, allowing us to leverage his experience and focused perspective. We are proud to be in the 12% of privately-owned businesses that are operating into the third generation.
FISCAL Forward And Beyond…
In 2023, we announced the launch of FISCAL Forward, the latest version of our spreading software. The release offers new features and capabilities aimed at further streamlining financial statement spreading, reporting, credit memos, and other underwriting tasks. The upgrade has two purposes–first to provide better functionality and ease-of-use to our customers, and second to strengthen the underlying technology to ensure a secure and stable foundation upon which to continue building for years to come.
We continue to modify, update, and enhance our products, staying sharply focused on the essential elements of our success: delivering smart and straightforward solutions, providing exceptional customer service, and building long-term relationships with our clients.
